In July 2016, the World Bank launched a new Procurement Framework, which helps countries design procurement strategies that encourage the right, high-performing contractors to bid. This new procurement approach has numerous changes designed to foster private sector participation. In addition, Responding to feedback from businesses, the World Bank has also introduced more protections for bidders/contractors.
The World Bank is keen to have well performing companies interested in working in developing countries bid more frequently for World Bank-financed contracts. This is very important for the Bank's mission because to deliver best value to the beneficiaries of Bank projects, borrowers' procuring agencies need to work effectively with the right contractors. For this reason, the Bank is actively reaching out to markets to ensure that there is broad awareness of the significant improvements in its procurement approach and the new business opportunities available
